Internet Explodes this Fourth of July - America's Birthday Website refreshed for 1996.

USA CityLink Project features "BEST of the USA" contest for unique city prizes and travel vacations.

MANDEVILLE, LA. -- April 18, 1996 -- The sights and sounds of this American tradition jump into cyberspace again to celebrate the Fourth of July on the Internet. This year there is a new twist to an old tradition at The USA CityLink Project. The new twist is a fun online game involving over 1600 states and cities across America.

The "BEST of the USA" contest at CityLink is an educational, fun, easy to play online game that encourages learning about the USA through CityLink over a 10 week period leading up to the Fourth. Citizens of all ages will be participating in the game. City clues will encourage users to play and learn about the USA. Weekly there will be three winners selected who answer questions correctly, enabling them to enter the final drawing July 4th. Weekly prizes include unique city items donated from website owners from around the USA, while the grand prizes are paid accommodations at popular US tourist destinations.

The USA CityLink Project is a popular destination on the Internet offering travel, tourism and relocation information on over 1600 cities and states featuring web pages. The Project, launched in mid 1994 with just 35 cities, has grown 220% in 1995.

So while fireworks are popping all across America, Internet users can listen to fireworks and sing along to the Star Spangled Banner in cyberspace. Users hear the sounds of America with a fireworks show, the National Anthem and a message from Vice President Al Gore. Some of the features of this website are historic documents such as the Constitution and the Declaration, famous quotes, along with a virtual visit to the White House.

Included at the site is a true/false questionnaire on fireworks safety which provides instant answers in a point and click format. Attractions include the online Vietnam Veterans Memorial along with platforms for the Republican and Democratic Parties.

The Internet is smokin' this Fourth of July at the America's Birthday Online Celebration featuring the "BEST of the USA" contest at the USA CityLink Project.
