Wisconsin is located in the north central US and is bordered by two of the five Great Lakes. Located between the great lakes and the Mississippi River, Wisconsin has very varied geographic regions and is forty six percent forest. The state leads the nation in cheese production and is second only to California in dairy production.

Its landscape lends itself greatly to the outdoor sports, particular those of winter: ice skating, skiing and snow mobiling. There are even snow mobile derbies! And in warmer times, Door County offers charming villages with fish boils and seasonal cherry picking, enjoyed by thousands of visitors each year. Wisconsin Dells is also a popular tourist destination area.

Some enjoyable indoor things to do are the Rick Wilcox Theater, a comedy magic show for the whole family located in Wisconsin Dells. Also, the Milwaukee Art Museum hosts a collection of over 20.000 pieces and includes some of the 20th century masters. The Circus World Museum in Baraboo is also family fun. It pays tribute to over two hundred years of the American circus with artifacts and memorabilia.

Norskedalen Nature and Heritage Center is a lovely way to experience nature and has accommodations available. It is located in Coon Valley. Noah’s Arc Water park, also in Wisconsin Dells, is the largest water park in the country and families visit it in droves.

Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek has 3,775 beautiful acres, with miles of hiking and biking trails and uncrowded, unspoiled beaches. With excellent camping, this is a great place to camp out as you visit Door County. Wisconsin also has four other areas under the protection of the National Park Service and one National Forest, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.

For the more sports minded, Lambeau Field in Green Bay is the home to the Green Bay Packers and he Whistling Straights Golf Course in Kohler is one the premier championship golf courses in the country. Some popular festivals include Summerfest in Milwaukee, running from late June through early July. and the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh aviation celebration held each summer at the Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh.

From cheese to cherries to contented cows and tourists, Wisconsin has a lot to offer everyone.
