New Hampshire is one the most beautiful New England states. With one of the oldest national forest attractions in the country, the White Mountains National Forest, and with numerous state parks, New Hampshire offers endless miles of trails and waterways for hiking and canoing for enjoying its natural beauty.

A charming attraction of the state is its numerous covered bridges found statewide. Apple orchards dapple the state, as well, some with picking for the public. The Great North Woods, the Cathedral of the Pines and The Fells, John Hay Estate and Wildlife Refuge are other areas of natural beauty and interest to explore. Horseback riding and maple sugar houses can also be found throughout the state, unique activities for the whole family.

Charming scenic railroads, located in Meredith, North Conway and others, come alive particularly during the fall foliage season. Several interesting historic sites to see are the Robert Frost Farm, home of the famous poet, the Canterbury Shaker Village in Canterbury, of the Shaker people, and America’s Stonehenge in Salem, a mysterious pattern of stones, still unsolved.

For the very active sportsman, there is hockey and snowmobiling, particularly in Bartlett and Twin Mountain, and the Highland Games are held in Lincoln. And, for warmer weather, there are numerous beaches.

With fairs and festivals going on all year as well, there is little opportunity for boredom in New Hampshire.
