Known as one of the major snow skiing and golfing capitals in the country, Nevada offers more than just the glittering lights of extraordinary Las Vegas. Steeped in natural beauty and history, it was even the subject and setting of an old long running television show, Bonanza, filmed on location.

Ghost towns, old courthouses and underground mines are but a few of the treasures to explore with your family. The historic and restored railroads in Carson City are also fun for everyone.

Known as the Silver State from its heritage in the silver mining boom, which brought it its fortune, Nevada is rich in national and state parks, as well. The magnificent Lake Tahoe State Park offers both water and beach sports, as well as being one of the major snow skiing destinations in the country. Great Basin National Park, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and Wild Horse State Recreation Area are but a few of many others.

Virginia City, a National Historic Landmark, literally grew up over night with the great silver strike in 1859, also known as the Comstock Lode. One of the larger sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Virginia City affords you and your family many fun and interesting things to do.

When it comes to Las Vegas and Reno, the night life, museums, shows and cultural attractions draw people from around the world. And, as tame as it may seem beside it, the Hoover Dam is also a spectacular sight to see, drawing thousands every year.

As you can see, there are many diverse attractions and things to do in Nevada, from its parks and rivers and snow skiing to world famous nightlife to a stagecoach ride in Virginia City. What are you waiting for?
